Tanzania Photographic Safaris | 2025 & 2026

Safari Overview

This sixteen-day photographic safari covers approximately 1,965 km of travel and around 36 hours of total drive time, following the rhythm of Tanzania’s most dramatic wildlife territories. Designed especially for UK couples who value adventure, intimacy and shared experience, this journey offers private game viewing in Ndutu and Serengeti during one of the most rewarding wildlife seasons of the year.

The flow of the itinerary ensures early starts, long golden hours, flexible positioning and patient photography time without rush or distraction. Ndutu allows rare off-road access, giving couples the chance to sit quietly with lions on the hunt, cheetahs with cubs or hyenas closing in at dawn — all without crowded viewpoints. Every location was selected not only for wildlife density but also for its ability to offer moments couples can share together: sunrise game drives, private sundowners, campfire evenings and peaceful lodge stays where each day’s images and memories can be relived.

Accommodations combine comfort, authenticity and close proximity to the wildlife zones, ensuring more time in the field and less time on the road. Whether watching the Mara River crossings, capturing lions in the golden light of Seronera or learning village traditions beneath the slopes of Kilimanjaro, each day deepens connection — with nature, with place and with each other.

This is not just a safari.
It is a professionally crafted wildlife experience where UK couples return home not only with extraordinary images but with a journey they shared, felt and will never forget.

DAY 1: Arrival – Arusha (JRO Airport → Arusha | 55 km, 1 hr)

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are warmly welcomed by your professional driver guide and transferred to Arusha. After check-in at your boutique lodge, enjoy a relaxing evening as you settle into Tanzania’s safari atmosphere.
Arusha lies at the foothills of Mount Meru and serves as the heartbeat of Tanzania’s Northern Circuit. For UK couples, this first night offers a gentle introduction to East African culture, a moment to breathe, refresh and prepare for the expedition ahead.

Accommodation: Villa Maua

DAY 2 & 6: Ndutu, Southern Serengeti (Arusha → Ndutu | 290 km, 6 hrs)

After breakfast, you depart Arusha and make your way to the Ndutu region of the Southern Serengeti, an area famous for hosting one of nature’s most remarkable events: the calving season of the Great Migration. During this period, vast herds of wildebeest and zebra gather on the nutrient-rich plains to deliver their young. This spectacle attracts predators of every kind, resulting in dramatic encounters and unforgettable sightings.

Your time in Ndutu is focused entirely on deep exploration. Each day begins early, heading into the plains while predators are still active. With varied landscapes including open plains, signature acacia woodlands, marshland habitats, lakeshores, and rocky viewpoints, Ndutu offers some of the most visually powerful and photographically rewarding wildlife settings in Africa. One of the rare privileges in this region is that off-road driving is permitted, allowing your guide to position the vehicle perfectly for angles, light, and once-in-a-lifetime wildlife moments.

Over these five days, you spend extended time with sightings rather than rushing from one to another. You may remain with a pride of lions as cubs play around their mothers, follow cheetahs as they stalk their prey, or watch jackals, hyenas, and vultures perform their roles in the natural cycle of life. Evenings are calm and atmospheric, spent reviewing photographs, enjoying a warm meal, and listening to the distant sounds of the African night. By the sixth day, the experience of witnessing new life and the raw struggle of survival leaves a deep emotional impression that travelers rarely forget.

Accommodation: Ndutu Safari Lodge

DAY 7 & 8: Central Serengeti (Ndutu → Seronera | 120 km, 3 hrs)

Your journey continues north, entering the world-renowned Seronera Valley in central Serengeti. This area is celebrated for having one of the highest concentrations of big cats in Africa. The landscape is classic Serengeti: endless golden grasslands broken by granite kopjes and elegant acacia silhouettes. It is here that leopards are often seen resting in sausage trees, lions bask in the sun atop warm rocks, and cheetahs scan the plains for their next opportunity.

Game drives are conducted at the most beautiful times of day when predators are most active and the lighting is ideal for photography. Your guide positions you thoughtfully, allowing you to capture portraits, wide scenic stories, or moments of thrilling action. The pace remains relaxed, allowing the experience to unfold naturally while you enjoy the luxury and tranquility of your tented camp. Evenings are defined by fine dining, excellent service, and clear skies filled with stars.

Accommodation: Tanzania Bush Camp

DAY 9 & 11: Northern Serengeti & Mara River (Central Serengeti → Mara River | 175 km, 4 hrs)

From Seronera, you travel deeper into the Serengeti toward the remote northern region near the Mara River. This area is the stage for one of the most dramatic wildlife spectacles on earth: the river crossings of the Great Migration. The atmosphere here is electric with anticipation, as herds of wildebeest and zebra gather at the riverbanks, waiting for the right moment to plunge into the crocodile-filled waters.

Your days are spent positioned near key crossing points, patiently observing the natural drama unfold. Sometimes the herds wait in silence for hours, assessing danger. At other moments, the peace suddenly breaks as thousands surge forward in a frenzy of determination, survival, and instinct. The experience is both humbling and unforgettable.

After two incredible nights near the river, you return to central Serengeti, enjoying the changing scenery and the opportunity to spot wildlife in glowing afternoon light. Animals such as elephants, giraffes, lions, and plains game create beautiful photographic opportunities as the sun sets over the horizon

Accommodation: Kenzan Mara Tented Camp

DAY 12: Serengeti → Ngorongoro Crater (145 km, 3.5 hrs)

Your final morning in the Serengeti includes a last game drive, followed by a scenic journey toward the Ngorongoro Highlands. The ascent to the crater rim builds anticipation until the breathtaking view of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera appears below. Descending into the crater is a powerful experience, as you enter an ecosystem that feels like a natural amphitheater filled with wildlife.

Ngorongoro is home to one of the densest concentrations of animals in Africa, including rhinos, large lion prides, vast herds of zebra and wildebeest, hippos, buffaloes, and abundant birdlife. The dramatic landscapes and rich wildlife density make this day especially emotional for many travelers, symbolizing the fullness of the African wilderness.

Accommodation: Tanzania Bush Camp

DAY 13: Ngorongoro → Tarangire National Park (140 km, 3 hrs)

This morning you leave the highlands behind and travel toward Tarangire National Park, a landscape known for ancient baobab trees, sweeping river valleys, and some of the highest elephant populations in Tanzania. Game viewing begins as soon as you enter the park, and sightings often include family herds of elephants, lions resting in the shade, giraffes walking gracefully across the plains, and a rich diversity of birdlife.

Tarangire offers a slower and more intimate pace compared to the Serengeti. The environment encourages reflection, photography, and a deeper appreciation of wilderness without the rush of heavy vehicle density.

Accommodation: Marera Valley Lodge

DAY 14: Full Day in Tarangire

You spend the day exploring Tarangire’s varied ecosystems, which include open plains, river courses, woodlands, and marshes. The landscape is especially photogenic in the late afternoon, when the sun casts long golden rays across the grasslands. Elephants standing against the silhouettes of massive baobabs make unforgettable scenes, and predators often take advantage of the cooler evening light to begin their activity.

The final evening in the bush is peaceful and reflective, offering time to soak in the sounds of the African night one last time.

Accommodation: Tarangire Simba Lodge

DAY 15: Tarangire → Arusha (160 km, 3.5 hrs)

After a sunrise game drive, you return to Arusha. The afternoon is left open for rest, organization, photo sorting, or simply enjoying a quiet romantic evening reflecting on the journey you have completed.

Accommodation: Villa Maua

DAY 16: Kilimanjaro Cultural Experience → Departure (Arusha → Kilimanjaro Region → JRO | 120 km, 2.5 hrs)

Before your international flight, you spend the day on the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro exploring the heritage of the Chagga people. The experience includes walks through banana and coffee plantations, waterfalls flowing through mountain forest, traditional culinary tasting prepared by local women, and stories that connect land, culture, and history.

Later in the afternoon, you are transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight, carrying with you memories of a deeply immersive East African safari that blends nature, culture, and emotion in a way few journeys can match.
