Safari Overview
This 8-day Northern Tanzania experience is crafted for UK adventure couples who want more than a safari — they want to connect with the land, the people and the story of Africa. From nights spent with the Maasai in Enduimet to tracking wildlife across Tarangire and the legendary Serengeti, this journey blends culture, wilderness, scenery and meaningful shared moments.
Travel takes you through diverse regions — from the foothills of Kilimanjaro to the volcanic highlands of Ngorongoro — with accommodations selected for character, comfort and immersive atmosphere. Expect wide horizons, unhurried sunsets, and uninterrupted time together that modern life rarely allows.
Across 8 days, the route covers approximately 1,100 km, spaced thoughtfully so that each scenic drive becomes part of the experience rather than just a transfer.
DAY 1: Arrival in Tanzania – JRO → Moshi (40–50 km | 45 min – 1 hr)
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you are welcomed by your private guide with a sign for easy recognition. The drive to Moshi is peaceful, with Mount Kilimanjaro rising above the plains. Settle into your boutique lodge, relax, and ease into your East African journey.
Accommodation: Pink Flamingo Boutique Hotel
DAY 2: Maasai Cultural Experience – Moshi → Enduimet (70–90 km | 2–2.5 hrs)
After breakfast, travel west toward Enduimet, a Maasai community conservancy at the base of Kilimanjaro’s western slopes. Your day is spent gaining genuine insight into Maasai life, including heritage, tradition and the community museum.
In the evening, take a guided bush walk to learn traditional survival skills, medicinal plants and landscape interpretation. Dinner follows beneath a starlit sky, accompanied by songs, stories and shared celebration. Accommodation is in Maasai-style lodging for an immersive cultural stay.
DAY 3: Wildlife Encounters in Tarangire – Enduimet → Tarangire National Park ( 210–240 km | 4.5–5.5 hrs)
After breakfast, depart with picnic lunch for Tarangire National Park, known for its ancient baobabs, wide grasslands and one of the highest elephant concentrations in East Africa.
Enjoy an afternoon game drive in search of lions, giraffes, buffalo, antelope, zebra and many smaller wonders. With nearly 500 bird species, Tarangire is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts. Return to your lodge at sunset for a relaxing evening.
Accommodation: Tarangire Simba Lodge
DAY 4: Tribal Traditions & Highland Evenings – Tarangire → Lake Eyasi (150–170 km | 3.5–4.5 hrs)
Continue toward Lake Eyasi, where the Datoga people welcome you into their community. A Datoga host explains the significance of their craftsmanship, including centuries-old blacksmithing techniques still practiced today.
This is cultural learning led directly by those who live the tradition — genuine, respectful and personal. After the experience, proceed to your lodge for dinner and a peaceful night surrounded by volcanic landscapes.
Accommodation: Ziwani Lodge
DAY 5: Hadzabe Hunting Experience & Entering the Serengeti – Eyasi → Serengeti (via Ngorongoro) (240–280 km | 6–7 hrs including transit)
Before sunrise, join the Hadzabe, one of East Africa’s last hunter-gatherer communities, as they begin their morning hunt. This encounter offers a rare window into a lifestyle that has remained largely unchanged for thousands of years.
After breakfast, collect lunch boxes and begin the scenic drive through the Ngorongoro highlands into the Serengeti. A game drive en route introduces you to the wildlife-rich ecosystem before arriving at your camp in time for sunset.
Accommodation: Nyikani Camp Serengeti
DAY 6: The Serengeti – Soronera Valley Internal driving, wildlife dependent
Few experiences compare to waking up in the Serengeti. After breakfast, enjoy a full day on safari in the Soronera Valley — known for open plains, dramatic viewpoints and high predator density.
Your guide interprets tracks, patterns and behavior like the pages of a storybook, highlighting the timeless movements of lions, cheetahs and migrating herds. Return to camp for dinner and an evening under the stars.
Accommodation: Nyikani Camp Serengeti
DAY 7: Ngorongoro Crater – Serengeti → Ngorongoro → Karatu (140–160 km | 4–5 hrs including transfers)
After an early breakfast, depart the Serengeti for the Ngorongoro Crater — one of the world’s richest wildlife sanctuaries. Enjoy a crater tour and picnic lunch surrounded by elephants, wildebeest, lions, buffalo and, with luck, the rare black rhino.
Continue to Karatu for dinner and a restful evening in the highlands.
Accommodation: Endoro Lodge
DAY 8: Farewell Tanzania – Karatu → Arusha (130–150 km | 2.5–3.5 hrs)
After breakfast, travel back toward Arusha, enjoying your final views of the open plains and highland scenery. According to your schedule, you are transferred either to your Arusha accommodation or directly to the airport for onward travel.

He knows every detail of what somebody coming from Europe wants to see in Africa. One possibility to reduce long distance travels by car is to make part of the trip by plane, mainly the way back once you have finished the visit to the main parks. Altogether, the price-quality ratio is phantastic. Seif also speaks Spanish very very well and knows the specific names of all animals and birds in Spanish. Very recommended for Spanish tourists. We saw a lion chasing a wildebeest (the full sequence!).Posted on Christine J Unforgettable Safari and Getway After a safari with Sana wild experience I have certainly become a storyteller.
